05 Feb Food and drink: the Cookie Cup
Turin, 1979. This date marks the beginning of a story about facing the challenges of the future. This is when the Lavazza Training Centre was established, the place where a passion for coffee meets an eagerness to experiment.
20 years later, Lavazza’s experts have created a new art: Coffee Design.
Imagine sipping your coffee, savouring every flavour right down to the last drop – then, straight after, eating a crunchy biscuit wafer. All of this is possible with the Cookie Cup. It’s a shortbread cup coated with a special sugar glaze that lets it withstand the high temperature of the coffee. The Cookie Cup stems from the partnership between designer Enrique Luis Sardi, confectioner Lello Parisi and the Lavazza Team, and is only available at the historic coffee corner in Turin on Via San Tommaso.
Lavazza is about more than just taste, and the Training Centre proves it. Coffee is becoming a real subject for study. It is something that can be changed and renewed to offer new sensory experiences to accompany the taste – letting us explore roads not yet travelled.
